"Marie is the most knowledgeable violin teacher I have studied with. She knows violin repertoire inside out, and she avidly studies and listens to other performers. She's enthusiastic and encouraging, too. She had faith in my ability to learn, even as an adult student!"
~Gordon K.
"I have known Marie for years. We worked together in Chicago where she helped me create, organize, and set up many music events with the Chicago Fine Arts Music Society. She assisted me with string quartet coaching and private lessons at the Music Institute of Chicago, Winnetka. My students and families loved working with her and receiving her expert advice. She is an accomplished violinist and instructor who can play and tutor on the highest caliber string pieces while being technically precise and very expressive as an artist. I know her to be a kind, caring, and compassionate educator, performer, leader, director, and person. She is professional with a personal touch." David Yonan, International violin competition winner, soloist, and performer.
"Marie Loeffler is the best teacher I have worked with. I had the fortunate opportunity to study with Ms. Marie for over 10 years. Within those 10 years she not only taught me the fundamentals of what a good violinist should be, but she inspired me to take on new challenges. Because of her teaching, I was able to become a violinist with the prestigious Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, and with her guidance I was able to work my way up to The Metropolitan Symphony. Ms. Marie has fueled my passion for the violin by encouraging me to take on harder solos. Over the years, I have seen the love of music grow within me as Ms. Marie has shared her enthusiasm for the instrument, and I would not have been able to accomplish all that I have without her exemplar leadership."
Mae
I am a musician, educator, writer, and nonprofit executive with more than 30 years of experience teaching foreign languages, writing, viola, and violin. Classically trained as a violinist, I have enjoyed teaching and performing a wide range of musical styles, from advanced classical repertoire and concertos to Irish fiddle, blues, jazz, klezmer, and contemporary music. As a composer and former band musician, I also help students develop their own creative projects and compositions.
My performance experience includes professional orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo appearances. As a former music scholarship recipient and award-winning student, I enjoy helping students prepare for auditions, competitions, and performances at all levels. I have attended, lectured, and performed at Suzuki conferences and am trained to teach Suzuki Violin Books 1–10. My conservatory studies included many of the major works of the violin repertoire, including the unaccompanied works of Bach, Paganini Caprices, Mozart concerti, and the major Romantic concertos.
Throughout my career, I have combined arts education with organizational leadership. I have taught through Carroll University, UW–Waukesha, White House of Music, Beihoff Music, Outpost Music, and the Chicago Fine Arts Institute. I have served as Music Director and Summer Camp Director for GMES, worked with the Oconomowoc Area and Elmbrook school districts, and led an Elmbrook LAUNCH student team to a first-place finish in the 2025 cohort.
Alongside teaching and performance, I have held executive leadership roles in the nonprofit sector. I earned an MBA in Organizational Development with a 4.0 GPA and have applied that training through nonprofit leadership, fundraising, event planning, strategic initiatives, and volunteer engagement.
In these roles, I have managed fundraising initiatives, secured grants and sponsorships, created and coordinated events ranging from small educational programs to large community gatherings, and supported the operations of mission-driven organizations. My experience includes building community partnerships, leading volunteer efforts, and advancing organizational goals through collaborative leadership.
I am also the owner of Love Art Shop, LLC, a small business dedicated to creative and educational products.
STUDENTS
Students from my studio have been placed at all levels of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and have received top honors in its concerto competitions. They have served as concertmasters and section leaders, performed featured solos, and taken on leadership and tutoring roles within their school music programs.
My studio musicians have also earned top awards at the state and district levels through the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA), 4-H, and the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs. They have been selected for the Wisconsin Young Artist Honors Orchestra and have received scholarships through the Wisconsin Philharmonic Shining Stars Competition.
Beyond competitions and honors ensembles, students are encouraged to share their music in meaningful ways. They perform in orchestras, chamber ensembles, Irish fiddle events, places of worship, nursing homes, and community programs, developing both musicianship and confidence through service and performance.
Former students have continued their musical studies at respected institutions including the Eastman School of Music, the University of Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, as well as many other distinguished collegiate music programs.
**I am currently accepting online students only for violin, German, and Biblical Hebrew.**
